If you haven’t been to MASS MoCA believe me when I say it really is gigantic. We took a tour to find out more about how this beautiful, big building - and the big works by big-name artists inside - are part of the museum's long-term strategy to boost the local economy. Now, as part of the museum’s ongoing expansion and mission, MASS MoCA’s gallery capacity is doubling with the debut of Building 6 which opens Sunday. Its exhibition girth grew even more in 2008 when the institution renovated what's known as Building 7 to display floors filled with large-scale wall drawings by the late conceptual artist Sol LeWitt. The Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art was already pretty darn huge when it opened 18 years ago with 90,000 square feet of exhibition space in a re-purposed, 19th-century mill complex in North Adams. So of course, we made some time to sneak down there and have a little portrait fun with some of her favorite pieces. Jackie’s love for the museum started because of her amazement with Sol LeWitt, who has multiple floors with of his artwork throughout Mass MoCA. They crafted a day that would make the experience of their wedding exciting and fun for all that came.

They chose their venue with a full heart of knowing the love and wonder it brought both of them as they visited its exhibits together. Together these two created the most joyous day for all of their loved ones. Matt is the perfect blend of spunk and excitement for her. She is resilient, strong, kind, and of course creative.
This lady is all things wonderful and the fact that I get to share parts of my life with her in it, makes this darn world a more beautiful place for me, and everyone else that is able to have her around. There is this magical spirit to my best friend, that glows even brighter when she is surrounded by artists, and art – whether contemporary, modern, or romantic. You can walk from mom and pop downtown pizza places to the beautiful museum that seems to be so comfortably placed surrounded by trees and architecture of previous decades.
Little roads that hug the mountains and rivers, eventually climbing you up in elevation where the overlook lets you discover the magic of the small town of North Adams. The route to get there alone is gorgeous. If you have never been to Mass MoCA in North Adams, it is a must. Tucked away in a tiny artistic town in the Berkshires of Massachusetts, my very best friend vowed her life to her love.
